I’m so glad you’re here.
I’m Aimee , the face behind Captured by Jae, a Northamptonshire photographer covering weddings, families, newborns and all the wonderfully chaotic bits in between.
I’m a mum of three, a dog mum to Luna, and someone who genuinely believes you don’t have to be “good at photos” to have photographs you absolutely love.
In fact, I’d much rather photograph you laughing at something your partner said, your kids running off when they’re supposed to be standing still, or that little moment you didn’t even realise I caught.
That’s the stuff I love.
Because yes, I’ll tell you where to stand when you need it. I’ll fix your dress, move you into better light and probably tell you you’re fabulous approximately 47 times.
But I’m not interested in turning you into someone you’re not just because there’s a camera in front of you.
You bring yourselves. I’ll bring the camera.
A little recognition...
My work has also been recognised through the Legacy Photography Awards, Including 2nd place and two 3rd place awards.
Captured by Jae actually started with my children.
The name comes from Jude, Avarose and Ellis, my three children, and the reason this little business has always meant so much more to me than just taking photographs.
I stepped away from photography for a while when they were little because, at the time, they needed me more. Coming back to it wasn’t something I planned perfectly. I just knew I missed it.
And looking back, I think becoming a mum changed the way I photograph people.
I know how quickly they grow.
I know how a day can feel completely ordinary until you look back at a photograph years later and realise you’d give anything to be back in that moment.
So that’s what I want to give my clients.
Not just pretty photographs.
The photographs that make you stop scrolling through your camera roll and think, “God, I miss this age.”
That’s why I do this.
SO, WHAT AM I LIKE BEHIND THE CAMERA?
Probably exactly what you’d expect from someone who spends her working days photographing children and families.
I’m chatty. I’m probably going to compliment you. I will absolutely tell you when you’ve nailed a photograph.
I’ll give you direction if you’re standing there thinking “What the hell am I supposed to do with my hands?” — because I’ve been there too.
And if your toddler decides they are absolutely not doing photographs today?
Don’t panic.
I’ve got three kids. 😂
I’m used to the chaos, the bribery, the running away, the “I don’t want to” and the occasional meltdown.
And weddings are no different. Plans change, people get emotional, things run late — that’s part of the day. You don’t need another person adding to the stress.
I want to be the person you feel comfortable having around.
The person who knows when to step in, when to step back and when to quietly capture what’s happening without interrupting it.
Basically, I’m there to photograph your people — and make the whole thing feel a lot less awkward while I do it.
