There are moments in a photographer's career that feel like more than just a job; they feel like an absolute honour. Today was one of those days. I had the privilege of documenting a truly historic event, the Civic Ceremony for the new Mayor of Wellingborough.
A Journey of Resilience and Success
Having photographed this family for years, watching their journey unfold has been a joy. But seeing this father—a man who arrived in the UK a decade ago and built his life through sheer hard work and integrity, take his oath as Mayor was deeply moving.
His story is one of incredible courage:
• Modest Beginnings: Growing up in a village school, he was driven by dreams and determination.
• Relentless Effort: From becoming the first engineer in his family to holding senior positions in major firms, his path has been defined by the belief that "change is the only constant".
• A Historic Milestone: Today’s ceremony was particularly special as it was the first time in the history of England that a Civic Ceremony for a Mayor was held in a Mandir.
More Than Just Clients
Over the years, this family has become more than just clients; they have become close friends. Being invited to witness and capture this emotional moment at the WDHA Hindu Mandir was a highlight of my career. To document a piece of local history while sharing in the pride of a family I care about is exactly why I love what I do.
Congratulations to the new Mayor. Your journey from a "young village boy" to a leader of our community is an inspiration to us all.
